Isn’t the fact that someone has a medical marijuana card subject to HIPPA and therefore protected information. So when you want to purchase a gun say in PA and don’t eat a CCW you just want one for your home there shouldn’t be an issue then?

I tried to buy a gun last week for protection, but was denied. They told me that just having a MM card means that one is addicted to an illegal substance! I told the guy that I used to be on opioids for chronic pain, but they were taken away and I was pushed into getting this card. I tried a few tinctures and creams because I don’t smoke, but none helped my pain. I don’t use any oroducts at this time. They said I have to wait until the card is expired! This is such BS! I live alone and a creepy guy has been hanging outside my house. I’ve called the police, buy they can’t do anything about it unless he threatens me. Then it’s too late. I’m disabled, so I can’t run away or fight back. It’s so unfair!

My card is expired but I am worried about a background check. Does it show up on a background check if you are a former patient? Will being a former patient cause me to fail a background check? I am so frustrated with these insane laws and I don’t see it getting any better with our anti gun brain dead weakling president. Absolutely disgusting how much we’ve fallen as a country.

Jennifer according to the law you have to wait a year from the time your card expired to re-apply. I am a care giver and not a patient nor do I smoke or use the drug but I am also put in this situation as all of you. I feel they are reading the law in correctly they feel just because I have it in the home then I must be smoking it or taking it.

Whatever happened to “ the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”? Sounds like the right to keep arms is definitely being infringed here. It’s unconstitutional for them to charge you for owning/buying guns while having a medical card. Therefor the “law” they are trying to lay on card owners is VOID by the second amendment right. That’s what I’d say if it went to court. Also people are not “addicted” to marijuana. It’s a non addictive drug. You don’t get withdraw from it. These pencil necks don’t know what they are talking about. The only reason it was illegal in the first place was because of the prohibition. It’s the last part of the prohibition not yet legalized again. Everything else that is easily taxable is. But marijuana isn’t because you can grow it yourself and the government doesn’t like that. They don’t get the taxes they are “due” if you grow and smoke yourself. My rant is done now lol
